Recognisable as a highlight from Squid's energetic live shows (remember those?), the now Bristol-based experimentalists have finally let the left-field studio recording of 'Paddling' loose. Creatively produced by the endlessly enthusiastic Dan Carey, you can hear the collective excitement of an excellent take on 'Paddling'. Masterfully navigating stark, stripped-back interludes and utterly overwhelming highs, Squid have thrown everything at the 6-minute-ish saga. Paying homage to the Krautrock greats, whilst incorporating an entirely new energy and a thirst to explore, 'Paddling' feels like their most impressive piece to date.
